COVID-19

Chattanooga School of Language has taken enhanced health and safety measures for our students, clients and team members. All students, clients and team members must follow any posted instructions while attending any in-person CSL classes and/or programs.

Currently, masks are optional for teachers and students during in-person CSL classes and/or programs. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19, among other viruses and illnesses, exists in any public space where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and persons with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By attending any in-person CSL classes and/or programs, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

12-Hour Cancellation Clause

Our teachers pour much time and effort into preparing their lessons for you. Therefore, if you are enrolled in private or semi-private lessons, we request at least 12 hours notice for cancellations. If you cancel a lesson with less than 12 hours notice, you are still charged for the lesson, and our teacher is not required to make up the class.

Refunds + Transfers + Credits

CSL reserves the right to cancel a class if fewer than 4 students register for our adult group classes (fewer than 5 students for our kids classes). If the class is cancelled, and CSL can’t accommodate you with another class option (we email you these options immediately), your payment will be refunded in full.

If you have registered for a class and would like to withdraw, you must do so at least 7 days prior to the start date of the class in order to receive a full refund.

If you decide to withdraw during the first week of classes, you can receive a credit of 75% of your class payment to use for the next term of classes. No credits will be issued after the first week of classes.

For group classes: If you wish to transfer to another level/class, you must do so during the first two weeks of classes. By the end of week two of class, there can be no movement between group classes.

Please note that NO refunds will be issued for student withdrawals once classes have started, or for missed classes. This applies to group and customized lessons.

For customized lessons, once lessons have started, no refunds will be issued, no transfer of hours (to another student) will be made, and the amount of hours purchased stays the same through the completion of the package.

Our policy for refunds, exchanges and returns of CSL merch can be viewed below.

Recurring Payments

If you select to register with recurring payments, you will be charged the first installment at the time of purchase, and all following payments will be automatically charged monthly until paid in full.

Registering for class is a 10-week commitment. You are responsible for the entire payment regardless of how many times you attend class. The more you go to class the more you will get out of our program!

Expiration of Hours for Customized Lessons and Workplace Training

In order for CSL to deliver high-quality, effective language instruction that fosters student success, consistency is critical.

If students or clients go for one month from their last lesson without having a lesson with their teacher, they will lose priority in the teacher’s schedule and may have to enter a waiting period to complete the remainder of their package of hours due to the high demand for our teachers and their services.

If students or clients do not communicate with the teacher at all for one month from their last lesson about taking a break from lessons for special reasons, the remaining hours in the most recently purchased package will expire. Students or clients must have a lesson within 6 months from their last lesson. Otherwise, any remaining hours in the most recently purchased package will expire.

Our teachers are flexible and willing to work on a case-by-case basis with students and clients to help them achieve their goals amidst busy schedules and unexpected life events. This policy enables our teachers to better serve all of our students and accommodate their unique needs and circumstances.

For Customized Lessons:
*Please be aware that lessons cannot begin until at least 48 hours after your payment is received. Your start date will be arranged between you and your teacher.

Class Recordings & Multimedia

Class Recordings

Classes that take place through Chattanooga School of Language’s (“CSL”) video chat platform (Zoom) are recorded by CSL (“Class Recordings”). Class Recordings are available to the Teacher providing the Class and CSL Staff to (1) provide a viewable copy to students who missed the Class, or who wish to review the Class, for their personal educational purposes; and (2) review the Class Recording in order to improve Classes. In addition, CSL may use Class Recordings to provide and improve our Services, for customer support, and for compliance purposes. CSL will delete Class Recordings under the following circumstances: (a) upon the request of a Parent for the deletion of their child’s personally identifiable information, or (b) upon the reasonable determination of CSL that a Class Recording should be removed to protect the privacy of certain Users or because of violations of these Terms of Service.

Marketing & Social Media

CSL retains the right to use Class Recordings and other photos, video or multimedia from Classes in social media posts, and other marketing efforts. Upon purchasing a class with CSL, you consent to you and/or your child appearing in
marketing materials.

Removing Consent

If you would not like you and/or your child to appear in marketing materials or in Class Recordings, please notify Chattanooga School of Language in writing, via an email to info@chattanoogalanguage.com, a minimum seven days prior to the start of classes.

Anti-Harassment Policy

Chattanooga School of Language is committed to the welfare of staff and students, and wants to ensure both can learn and work in a comfortable environment. If, at any time, an employee or student acts in a discriminatory, disrespectful, or any other manner that is counter to our values, an investigation will be conducted discretely and fairly. Any student who wishes to file a grievance can complete this form, and it will be submitted directly to CSL leadership.

*CSL reserves the right to not permit a child from attending classes if there are repeated behavioral disruptions or circumstances in which the student prevents others from learning. A refund and/or credit will not be issued.

Refunds and Exchanges for Merchandise

This policy is only applicable to merchandise purchased in the CSL Store, not language services. Policies for language services can be found on this page above. We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return or exchange. To be eligible for a return or exchange, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, unwashed, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

To start a return or exchange, you can contact us at info@chattanoogalanguage.com. If your return is accepted, we’ll email you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Exchanges

For Exchanges, we ask that you include the item description, as well as what size/color/style you'd like in exchange. Once we receive your item, we will process a new order to ship out to you. So, you may be contacted to choose an alternative if the option you want is no longer available (once we receive your original). Returns will be refunded to the original payment method or store credit.

Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of your initial shipping will be deducted from your refund. Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.
