This class provides students with a basic introduction to the target language and cultures. We will focus our class time on the acquisition of high frequency words (the most frequently used words in a language), common structures, and cognates. We will use these structures in class discussions, stories, and cultural explorations. Students will be expected to recognize these words when they read, hear or see them and, in time, be able to produce them in speech and writing. Throughout the class, students will be exposed to a variety of resources that focuses on expanding their vocabulary, building comprehension, and putting newly-acquired language skills to everyday use through conversation.
